Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego (BGCGSD or Clubs) CHANGES
LIVES through quality programs and guidance in a safe, affordable

youth to achieve academic success, build good character and
responsible citizenship and make healthy lifestyle choices. We have

with trained and dedicated professional staff. Members are involved
in age-appropriate activities based upon our three priority
outcomes of Academic Success, Character Development and Healthy
Lifestyles. POSITION OVERVIEW Under the direct supervision of the
Branch Manager, the Sr. Group Leader is primary responsible for
assisting the Manager with the daily operations including
supervision of staff and volunteers; implementation and oversight
of programs and activities; development of relationships with youth
and families; membership recruitment and retention; and management
of program data and outcomes. The Sr. Group Leader will ensure the
continued operations of the site when the Manager is not present.
Provide support to the Membership Clerk as needed. Continue to
perform all of the duties of Group Leader as stated in the job
description. Perform any other duties as assigned. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assist with conducting daily health & wellness
checks on all staff and members as outlined in current guidelines
Be aware of current safety protocols that are being adhered to:
adults are wearing face coverings, social distancing, frequent hand
washing, etc. Ensures programs and activities adhere to current
health and safety protocols. Coordinates assigned program services
and cooperative learning activities for youth that are both fun and
instructional; displays a high level of enthusiasm and commitment
for activities. Effectively plan and lead programs, services and a
variety of activities for members; promotes and stimulates program
participation. Provides guidance and role modeling to members.
Responsible for daily set-up and clean-up of all materials used
during the program. Work in food service area preparing, cooking
and cleaning up according to established guidelines. Supervises
members in program area; monitor and supervise the safety and
behavior of members; ensures equipment is in good condition and
members instructed in proper and safe use of equipment. Assess
facility needs and perform janitorial duties or manual labor as
needed – mopping, cleaning tables, trash removal, disinfecting,
painting, playing games, moving equipment, etc. Recognize and react
quickly to problems-arguing, fighting, horseplay and stop the
undesirable activity quickly. Maintains accurate program attendance
records and submits them in a timely manner. Cultivates positive
relationships with members, their parents and/or guardians and
staff. Regular and predicable attendance is expected. Orient new
members to the program as directed. Assist with the on-site
management of attendance data and procedures, program documents,
student files, and other administrative duties as assigned. Provide
effective and positive customer service by responding timely to
parent and staff requests in a professional and timely manner.
Serve as lead staff of the Core Program in the absence of the
Director. Other duties as assigned. SAFETY & WELLNESS Ensure a
safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all youth, staff, and
visitors by consistently enforcing safety protocols and
organizational policies. Conduct regular safety inspections and
promptly address any potential hazards or maintenance needs.
Participate in safety drills and contribute to ongoing risk
assessment and emergency preparedness efforts. Collaborate with
leadership to implement and improve safety and wellness policies
and procedures across the Club. QUALIFICATIONS Must be 18 years of
age with High School diploma or GED required with some college
experience; or a combination of knowledge and experience. A minimum
of 48 units of college curriculum or completion of the Classroom
Assistant Proficiency Exam (CAPE) required; or a combination of
knowledge and experience. Minimum of one (1-3) year experience
working directly with school aged youth and knowledge of youth
development is required. Ability to plan and implement quality
programs for youth; instruct, coach and direct varied activities.
Proficient computer skills – Microsoft Office, email, internet
research, social media navigation. Possess skills for instruction,
direction and guidance, with the ability to lead and control groups
of children in various recreational and educational activities and
settings. Respond according to procedure for emergency and
disciplinary situations. Ability to effectively communicate with
youth, parents, staff, volunteers, and community partners
displaying tact, maturity and flexibility. Respond according to
procedure for emergency and disciplinary situations. CPR and First
Aid Certifications within 30 days of hire. Must have the ability to
be active and on your feet for a minimum of five hours each day and
complete other essential functions of the position and other duties
as assigned . Special Conditions of Employment: Successful
